Express Entry Changes in November 2026: Could You Qualify for Up to 100 CRS Points?
Canada has announced Express Entry changes scheduled to take effect on November 3, 2026. For applicants planning their next step, the headline is significant: a qualifying job offer could be worth up to 100 CRS points. Your actual benefit will depend on your occupation, experience and profile. WHAT IS CHANGING? A new Labour Market Integration factor will compare two routes: Canadian work experience, including an eligible high-wage occupation component, or a qualifying high-wage job offer. IRCC will award the higher result. These two routes cannot be added together. The factor can reach 150 points without an accompanying spouse or common-law partner, or 140 with one. These are factor limits, not an automatic increase in your total CRS score. WHO COULD RECEIVE JOB OFFER POINTS? The announced job offer tiers are 50, 70 or 100 points. They correspond to eligible occupations whose median wages reach at least 1.3, 1.5 or 2 times the workforce median benchmark. The occupation's classification matters; an individual salary alone does not establish eligibility. Offers generally need to cover full-time, continuous Canadian employment for at least one year after permanent residence. Additional conditions apply to some occupations. IRCC must also be satisfied that the offer is genuine. WHAT ABOUT CANADIAN WORK EXPERIENCE? Existing duration-based points remain. Eligible Canadian experience in high-wage occupations can attract an additional 20, 40 or 70 points, depending on the occupation tier and qualifying experience. At least 12 months of eligible high-wage experience is required. Applicants whose work does not meet the high-wage criteria can still receive duration-based points. HOW DO LMIA REQUIREMENTS CHANGE? From November 3, an LMIA will no longer be required for qualifying Express Entry job offers under the announced changes. Employer legitimacy, the offer's terms and the applicant's ability to do the work will still be assessed. This Express Entry change should not be treated as a blanket exemption from separate work permit requirements. A job offer can help satisfy Federal Skilled Worker or Federal Skilled Trades eligibility without necessarily qualifying for CRS job offer points. Program eligibility and ranking are separate assessments. WHEN WILL PROFILES BE UPDATED? IRCC says existing profiles will be recalculated after implementation. This may take up to two weeks, with invitation rounds paused during recalculation. Candidates seeking job offer points should review their information before November 3. More points do not guarantee an invitation. YOUR SWASHRAY PREPARATION CHECKLIST • Check your NOC against IRCC's eligible occupation list. • Review your Canadian employment dates and supporting records. • Confirm that job offer details are complete and accurate. • Follow IRCC's current profile instructions, especially during the transition. • Review both possible scoring routes before assuming a particular increase.
